All nominations must pertain to ground water conservation or protection of
the Baton Rouge Aquifer System in the District.

If an application is submitted in color, at least five (5)
color copies must be submitted for review purposes.

The program is open to all ground water users in the
District.

To be nominated, the project must have been completed
prior to January 1. No “paper” projects or theoretical projects are
eligible.

Submitted materials become the property of the Capital
Area Ground Water Commission unless return is requested and an addressed and
appropriately pre-posted envelope is provided.

Measured reductions should be expressed in gallons per
day, million gallons per day, monthly, annual amounts, or in gallons per
unit of production.

Increased use of Shallow Sands of the Baton Rouge Aquifer
(“400 Foot Sand” and above, or equivalent) is considered good stewardship.

Efforts to identify and properly abandon water wells in
the District are also considered good stewardship.

Technology improvements such as flow meter installation,
automatic control system installation, etc. are also eligible for entry.

Special recognition for Public Supply conservation is
anticipated.

Process modifications, including the use of alternate
supplies such as gray water, river water, or shallow sands will be given
higher consideration.

Water recycling, such as cooling water reuse, will be
given the next higher consideration.

Additional consideration will be given for any community
outreach efforts conducted as part of the project.
Deadline
The nomination form and necessary supporting materials must reach the Capital
Area Ground Water Conservation Commission office no later than May 15. The
mailing address can be found on the nomination form. CAGWCC cannot assume
responsibility for nominations lost or delayed in transit.
Review
Soon after the deadline, a group of reviewers will evaluate the nominations.
Award recipients will be announced at the next regular Commission meeting as
well as in the Commission newsletter and in local media. The awards will be
presented at the next regular Commission meeting following the announcements.
The recipients or their representatives should attend to receive their award.
Cost
There will be no fee assessed for nominations.
